Fall Collaboration

Fall is here , What better way to celebrate my favorite season than to do it with fashion. I’ve teamed up with a few ladies to showcase our similar and different ways of being fashionable for the fall. Fall for me is all about layers, I love layers, you can build up and break it down as  the day goes on.

The thing I love about fashion is that we can interpret it in the way we think, feel and enjoy. I am far from an artist, but  fashion is my way of showing my artistic eye.Sometimes I enjoy the basics and sometimes I can be a bit over the top. I also love that people are at time brought together by the things they they love and enjoy.

Here are the ladies, their handles and their blogs.

First we have the lovely @thedazzlebomb (on IG),I love this sexy fall inspired look. Those Fabulous booties are from goody2shoes.com, blazer from justfab.com and her shorts are thrifted. Follow her blog at Thedazzlebomb.com

My latest appreciation for flats.

Many that know me know how much I live in heels. For a while one could not find me outside of the house in flats. As I’ve gotten older and more practical (lol) I realize that flats are a must in some instances.

I often though flats were ugly and did nothing for an outfit, but as I’ve begun my search of finding flats that suit me, I realized that my thinking was flawed. I began to find some flats that were not only cute but that fit my personal style.

Don’t get me wrong I am still a heels type of girl but instead of wearing heels 99% of the time, I wear them more like 89% of the time. Lol

Here’s a look I wore styles with flat sandals.

.

I paired my sandals with one of my $5 finds from none only than dollar general.

I purchased these cute blue flats from Here. Justfab and Shoedazzle are my go to places for most of my shoes.

Palmers Coconut Oil formula Review.

This review is an unsolicited review. Now that that’s out of the way… here’s my review.

Ok, let me start by saying I am an ex product junkie. I had almost every product on the counters when I first went natural. Now I’m a minimalist when it comes to products. They are not only expensive at times (it adds up) but often a waste of money for me and my hair type. These days it’s hard for me to commit to buying a product. I decided to give this particular product a try. With my kinky hair it’s usually hit or miss so I wasn’t expecting too much.

I used these products on my wash day along with my usual wash day items. I did not use all the products pictured.

I tried the  conditioning shampoo which did not dry out my hair like usual shampoos do. I will add this to my list of shampoos. It lathered pretty well and as I stated my hair was not hard or dry. The smell was good which was a plus.

I added the repairing conditioner to my deep conditioner and it was a good add but not a necessity for me. I will try this product again alone when I wash my hair again.

I also used The curling styler on both my hair and my sons hair and it left my hair so soft. I absolutely love it and will definitely continue to use it and restock when I run out. It helps that it smells pretty good.

I also used the edge control which did not justice to my kinky hair. I won’t be adding this to my rebuy list. I didn’t have high expectations of this since most edge control products don’t work for me, but it was worth a try.

All and all, I think the product is pretty good and would suggest it as a purchase.

Fashion on a Budget.

Living in the world that we live in people tend to equate fashion with money. That is not the case. I’ve seen some of the worse fashion with high price tags attached to it. I’ve also seen some great fashion that didn’t break the bank. Just because something is inexpensive doesn’t make it cheap. You can find great quality items for a low price. You just have to look.
This weekend I put together an outfit for under $100. This is so easy to do. It’s all about how you put things together.

Outfit frets:

Dress: dollar general (yes you read correct) $5.00

Shoes: Here – 39.95

Purse: Similar – 24.95

Total 69.90

Curl discrimination… let’s just be honest.

As silly as this may sound, in the natural community this is a such thing. It’s extremely sad and can be very  discouraging for someone who may be new to their journey and afraid to have the less desirable “curl pattern”.

Having that super loose curly and wavy natural hair is heavily favored. As big as the natural hair movement is I am seeing more and more loose curls representing what natural hair is. Don’t get me wrong it’s beautiful but it looks nothing like mine. It’s not the only kind of natural hair that exists. It’s a bit disheartening.

Natural hair pages that I’ve followed for years also have swayed more to the curlier, looser curl as well. I’ve seen girls claiming to be 4b but are closer to 3c. I’m not sure why this is done but thick is not the same as kinky. It’s false representation. I’ve noticed that you either have to have long hair or a taper cut to get recognition if your hair is a bit kinkier.

I’ve also felt this way and even spoke about it when ppl were dragging poor little Blue Ivy yet praising Knorth’s natural hair. It was sad but a true representation of how ppl felt about natural hair. It was a slap in the face that as beautiful as natural hair is a certain type is often deemed “ugly” and is definitely less desirable.

What are your thoughts on this topic?

High Waisted!

I have a love hate relationship with high waist jeans. It’s hit or miss sometimes.  These jeans right here from Shoedazzle are amazing! Unfortunately they no longer have them but they do have ones similar. I paired them with These yellow heels from @justfab.com and they paired perfect.

I purchased this grey onsie while I was in Cali last year, I wore it for the first time… Here is a similar one. As for my jacket it is one of my favorite and was apart of my boutique about 2 years ago.

Some days you wake up, throw on some makeup, toss your hair, put on some clothing, look in the mirror and completely love yourself… this was one of those days for me. Everything seem to have fallen into place just how I wanted it.

Vintage Jacket and Paper Bag Pants

As I was looking through one of my coat closets I came upon a Jacket I purchased from a vintage thrift store but never wore ( this happens more times then I like). I took the jacket out and started thinking about what I could pair it with. I then went into my regular closet and found a pair of pants I haven’t worn un a while and figured I would pair it with the jacket.

On this day My hair was acting crazy, so i threw it in my definition of a side ponytail. My allergies to make a guest apperence but the show must go on. I paired the jacket and pants with a tee I’ve worn many times before and a pair of my new favorite pumps. Image13

My Fit:

Jacket: thrifted vintage

Tee: from Curlskinksfashion ( the website is currently down) similar

Denim And Boots

The best thing about denim is that it can be worn all year long. Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall. It is one of those materials that transcends through time. I don’t think I will every get tired of denim. The last time I wore this particular denim piece I wore it as a top. On this day I wanted to show some legs and rock these high lace up boots.

Here is what I wore:

Mom and Fashion

Last week my son came home to visit for spring break. His last break we did not get to spend much time together, but this time around we made sure to pick a day to hang out. Being a mom of a young man picking out what you wear can be stressful. While I enjoy fashion I didn’t want to over do it, but I also wanted to be comfortable. Of course before leaving the house I had to get his stamp of approval. He didn’t like my shirt but gave me the OK. Our day out was enjoyable. We went see the movie Race ( it was amazing I suggest everyone go see it), after the movie we went to catch a bite to each. At this moment we caught up on what was going on in both of our lives.

Stairway To Fashion

Sometimes a woman wants to just throw on a dress, put on some makeup, fix up her hair and feel that extra dose of sexy. This dress defiantly helped me feel extra sexy. I feared wearing this dress at first because of the deep V in front of the dress, but once I tried it on I was in love. This little black dress is not for the faint of hearts. you have to be bold and daring to rock this. While this dress is revealing it is comfortable to wear and flattering on many body types.
