The Struggles Of Blogging

This post may have some sponsored links, but all opinions are that of my own.If you’re like me and you have a demanding job ( preschool Teacher), blogging often takes a back seat. With the ever so demanding world of blogging/vlogging it can get discouraging. It has taken me quite a while to take my blogging seriously. A part of me is happy for slowly dipping my toes in one by one before jumping in.

I have been going through a lot in life and blogging/vlogging had been my outfit. It has been therapeutic. My love for fashion and education has been revived and having an outlet to share it has been great. I have finally figured out some sort of schedule ( i think, lol) and finally found a consistent photographer ( i hope, lol), which means i don’t have to take my own pics anymore.

I absolutely give it to those people who blog/vlog daily or on a very consistent basis. One day i have hopes one getting there. For those who think blogging/vlogging is easy… you’re absolutely WRONG! I have taken series of photos and when it was all said and done, after all the hard work none were suitable, either my face was off, my body was off, the light was off, something was off. Ive taken a but of pics and a shot videos to fine my SD won’t read… It has been frustrating but that’s a part of life.I still have more work to to and more material to get to continue to improve, but slow and steady progress.

Take a chance

My love for fashion is deeper than the simple items put together. As I’ve mentioned before in previous post, fashion is an art from. It’s a way to express yourself without saying a word.

Generally speaking I’m very shy. People tend to mix that up for me being mean, standoff is or stuck up. I am none of the above. It’s rare that I will start a conversation (although in my older years I have done so more and more).

My awkward shyness has often been a down fall. Even when my business was up and running and I would get complimented on things that could be found in my boutique I wouldn’t self promote. While my business was doing well it could have been doing much better (I closed due to my move and will be reopening very soon).

My bold statements usually comes in the form of fashion. Fashion speaks for me. It gives me a voice. I take time to carefully think about what I want to put together. No thought goes into what others will think as I am picking it out, but after I wonder how ppl will take it in. Most times it’s hit but I have had my misses.

This is one of my favorite looks, it’s bold, it’s daring, it’s me. When I put this look on I laughed think. People are going to think I’m crazy. Black girl, white thigh highs??? I didn’t care because as I slowly put it together I loved it. I mean fashion is all about taking chances. So put on the outfit you love but your not sure if everyone else will. You may be surprised.

I don’t really have many outfit deets.

I purchased these thigh high stockings from walmart.com

My shoes are from shoedazzle.com

Skirt was from Target.com years ago when Peter Pilotto had a line there.

Sweater Weather

This post may have sponsored links but the opinions are all that of my own.

The season is upon us… it’s finally feeling like fall and winter is tapping on the door. One of the best and comfy pieces you should have for your fall/winter wardrobe are sweaters. Lots and lots of sweaters. I have complied a small list of what I think are must have sweaters. You can find them all at Shein.com

My first pick is this beautiful Golden sweater with black and white stripes. It is the most casual one of my pics.. You can rock this with some dark demin skinny jeans and riding boots. Find it here.

My next pic is the super adorable red  smock sweatshirt. This can be paired with a pencil skirt, straight leg pants and/or skinny leg jeans.  you can find it Find it here.

Now we all now I am not a big fan of pink, but when i saw this sweater i was in love, it also comes in4 other colors. It is so girly and cute. I would pair this with a leather mini or pencil skirt. You can find it Here

My next choice is this seemly simple style sweater with a twist. The bow on the front of this sweater gives it that extra push to set it apart from a simple sweater. Find it Here

Last but definitely not least this area fur and blog sweater…. I mean, need I say more? This swearer has my name written cllllll over it. you can find it Here

Find these and so many other beautiful sweaters at Shen.com

A Year in Georgia

It’s been a year since I’ve packed up a few things and moved out here to Georgia. If I say life was great I would not be speaking the truth. Transitioning from one state to another is not the easiest thing. Feeling the disconnect from the life one has lived for their entire life is a constant feeling, at least it has been for me so far.

Don’t get me wrong. I love Georgia and have no plans of moving back to New York, but change is very difficult. The area I live in (Lawrenceville) is different, different culture, different lifestyle, just different. It’s not a good or bad different, just a different to get accustomed to.

Making friends, finding a job, becoming acquainted it is all a work in progress. I miss my set of Friends. Making good friends is hard to do as I mentioned in a previous blog post Here. There are times i feel nostalgia when thinking about New York and I begin to miss simply hanging out with friends.

Finding solid ground as far as work has been a challenge for me. As much as I love what I do I think I will have to take my self back in the  public school system.  I am a preschool teacher and it is different ( to say the least) out here in my experience.

All in all if you’re anything like me. Change is hard. As hard as it is, making this move was one of the best decisions I have made and although it is indeed hard it was necessary and I do not regret it.

Shoedazzle Wishlist

First we have the lovely Analy Here .Next we haveSonia you can find her Here. Then we have Ayla Find her here .We also have Cathleen, Here she is.

Finally we have Lilyana Here she is. Finally we have Lilyana Here she is.

My selection has a variety. I am a lover of heels so of course I have more of those on my wish list than anything else. Flats are a must these days. Being a preschool teacher practical shoes are important.  Practical does not mean boring which is why my 2 picks for flats have a little spunk to it.

Brunching In Black

Recently I did a collaboration on brunch fashion.  You can check those looks out Here. I was super excited to do this collaboration for 2 reasons: fashion and brunch. I mean who doesn’t like brunch? The person who came up with brunch needs to be hugged and kissed. I love this social gathering that includes that of mimosas. When you add fashion to the mix it just makes it so much better.

When I lived in NYC I did a monthly brunch with a group of my friends. It was themed related. Every month a different person would pick the theme and brunch spot. It was always great to come up with ideas and to participate in the monthly themes. As fun as that was my favorite part was to catch up with my girls and chat it up… also the mimosas. lol.

Here is my brunch look:

Skirt and shirt: Here and Here (both currently on sale).

Shoes:Shoedazzle  (Similar)

My look was basic black look. I wanted to add some “fun” to it so I added these polka dot bobby socks and stripped pumps. I love pumps and socks. I love mixing prints, so thing just brought two of the things I love together.

Fall Collaboration

Fall is here , What better way to celebrate my favorite season than to do it with fashion. I’ve teamed up with a few ladies to showcase our similar and different ways of being fashionable for the fall. Fall for me is all about layers, I love layers, you can build up and break it down as  the day goes on.

The thing I love about fashion is that we can interpret it in the way we think, feel and enjoy. I am far from an artist, but  fashion is my way of showing my artistic eye.Sometimes I enjoy the basics and sometimes I can be a bit over the top. I also love that people are at time brought together by the things they they love and enjoy.

Here are the ladies, their handles and their blogs.

Virgo Season

As some of you know my birthday was last week. This year was a bit different, since I was in a new state and the weather was not favorable.  With that being said I still did what I could to celebrate. Birthdays are important to me. It’s another year with memories, trials and tribulations, lessons and achievements. Getting older is a blessing to me.I get to continue to live life and learn from the many things and people I experience.

Of course fashion is a big deal for my birthday. It seems the older I get the harder it is for me to pick out a great birthday outfit. This year I didn’t have any WHOA pieces but I liked my all over looks.  Here they are.I hate that I didn’t get a full picture of my casual look on the Friday prior to my bday but I loved my head wrap.Sunday I went super casual with some distressed jeans from Justfab, They have a great selection of jeans that fit amazing. I paired it with my team’s sweat shirt and denim pumps from Shoedazzle. On my actual birthday  ( Tuesday) I wore this blue dress from Fashion Nova, I will say if you have thighs size up.The Friday after my Birthday I decided to throw on this  Velvet number from ShoedazzleOn my final bday outing  on Saturday, I wore this super sexy dress with a high spilt from Fashion nova and booties from Justfab.

My latest appreciation for flats.

Many that know me know how much I live in heels. For a while one could not find me outside of the house in flats. As I’ve gotten older and more practical (lol) I realize that flats are a must in some instances.

I often though flats were ugly and did nothing for an outfit, but as I’ve begun my search of finding flats that suit me, I realized that my thinking was flawed. I began to find some flats that were not only cute but that fit my personal style.

Don’t get me wrong I am still a heels type of girl but instead of wearing heels 99% of the time, I wear them more like 89% of the time. Lol

Here’s a look I wore styles with flat sandals.

.

I paired my sandals with one of my $5 finds from none only than dollar general.

I purchased these cute blue flats from Here. Justfab and Shoedazzle are my go to places for most of my shoes.

My life as a mom

Being a mom is one of the best parts of my life. It’s also the most stressful. Lol my son is my pride and joy. For those who have been reading my blog you know that I had my son at the age of 17. While my life wasn’t horrible it was definitely difficult being a teen mom. Bringing up a brown boy in a not so perfect neighborhood at a not so perfect age and no type of game plan was hard. All I knew is that I didn’t want him to become a statistic and to give him all the love and support I had to offer.

There were trials and tribulations, we had many ups and downs. I cried many tears and sacrificed what was needed for him to be successful at whatever it was he did.

I remember when I first realized my son had an issue with his complexion. He came home and asked me why he was so dark. My heart broke into a thousand pieces but with all the strength and confidence I had I said because that’s how god made you and you’re beautiful!

I knew my words weren’t enough but I continued to reassure him that he was perfect. As years passed he hated taking pics, hated being out in the son and probably hated his complexion. We would talk about the beauty in his complexion. I wasn’t sure if it helped but I did it as often as possible.

Fast forward to recently, he told me he wanted to get into modeling. I was so happy because I am bias and think he will be great at it. Also it shows me that his confidence in him and his complexion has gone up.

Please if you can, take the time to follow his IG page Here and watch him grow.
