Fall Collaboration

Fall is here , What better way to celebrate my favorite season than to do it with fashion. I’ve teamed up with a few ladies to showcase our similar and different ways of being fashionable for the fall. Fall for me is all about layers, I love layers, you can build up and break it down as  the day goes on.

The thing I love about fashion is that we can interpret it in the way we think, feel and enjoy. I am far from an artist, but  fashion is my way of showing my artistic eye.Sometimes I enjoy the basics and sometimes I can be a bit over the top. I also love that people are at time brought together by the things they they love and enjoy.

Here are the ladies, their handles and their blogs.

Virgo Season

As some of you know my birthday was last week. This year was a bit different, since I was in a new state and the weather was not favorable.  With that being said I still did what I could to celebrate. Birthdays are important to me. It’s another year with memories, trials and tribulations, lessons and achievements. Getting older is a blessing to me.I get to continue to live life and learn from the many things and people I experience.

Of course fashion is a big deal for my birthday. It seems the older I get the harder it is for me to pick out a great birthday outfit. This year I didn’t have any WHOA pieces but I liked my all over looks.  Here they are.I hate that I didn’t get a full picture of my casual look on the Friday prior to my bday but I loved my head wrap.Sunday I went super casual with some distressed jeans from Justfab, They have a great selection of jeans that fit amazing. I paired it with my team’s sweat shirt and denim pumps from Shoedazzle. On my actual birthday  ( Tuesday) I wore this blue dress from Fashion Nova, I will say if you have thighs size up.The Friday after my Birthday I decided to throw on this  Velvet number from ShoedazzleOn my final bday outing  on Saturday, I wore this super sexy dress with a high spilt from Fashion nova and booties from Justfab.

Palmers Coconut Oil formula Review.

This review is an unsolicited review. Now that that’s out of the way… here’s my review.

Ok, let me start by saying I am an ex product junkie. I had almost every product on the counters when I first went natural. Now I’m a minimalist when it comes to products. They are not only expensive at times (it adds up) but often a waste of money for me and my hair type. These days it’s hard for me to commit to buying a product. I decided to give this particular product a try. With my kinky hair it’s usually hit or miss so I wasn’t expecting too much.

I used these products on my wash day along with my usual wash day items. I did not use all the products pictured.

I tried the  conditioning shampoo which did not dry out my hair like usual shampoos do. I will add this to my list of shampoos. It lathered pretty well and as I stated my hair was not hard or dry. The smell was good which was a plus.

I added the repairing conditioner to my deep conditioner and it was a good add but not a necessity for me. I will try this product again alone when I wash my hair again.

I also used The curling styler on both my hair and my sons hair and it left my hair so soft. I absolutely love it and will definitely continue to use it and restock when I run out. It helps that it smells pretty good.

I also used the edge control which did not justice to my kinky hair. I won’t be adding this to my rebuy list. I didn’t have high expectations of this since most edge control products don’t work for me, but it was worth a try.

All and all, I think the product is pretty good and would suggest it as a purchase.

Thanks for reading!

Curl discrimination… let’s just be honest.

As silly as this may sound, in the natural community this is a such thing. It’s extremely sad and can be very  discouraging for someone who may be new to their journey and afraid to have the less desirable “curl pattern”.

Having that super loose curly and wavy natural hair is heavily favored. As big as the natural hair movement is I am seeing more and more loose curls representing what natural hair is. Don’t get me wrong it’s beautiful but it looks nothing like mine. It’s not the only kind of natural hair that exists. It’s a bit disheartening.

Natural hair pages that I’ve followed for years also have swayed more to the curlier, looser curl as well. I’ve seen girls claiming to be 4b but are closer to 3c. I’m not sure why this is done but thick is not the same as kinky. It’s false representation. I’ve noticed that you either have to have long hair or a taper cut to get recognition if your hair is a bit kinkier.

I’ve also felt this way and even spoke about it when ppl were dragging poor little Blue Ivy yet praising Knorth’s natural hair. It was sad but a true representation of how ppl felt about natural hair. It was a slap in the face that as beautiful as natural hair is a certain type is often deemed “ugly” and is definitely less desirable.
