Leather and/or fur

Hey everyone, so i am back with another collaboration. I love collaborations because they are fun and they allow you to see other peoples interpretations of the theme. For this collaboration we decided on leather and/ or fur. it s the perfect collaboration for winter. Winter can be so devastating on fashion. Sometimes people are un inspired because the weather can be stifling and draining. Dressing up can change your feelings even if the weather still sucks!

You could choose to style leather, fur or both. I am extra ( lol) so i decided to stye both. Here are the looks that we came up with.

Sara (Her IG) did her thing with this beautiful fur vest and leather pants. I love the red it makes everything POP.

Robin (Her IG)looks cute as usual with her fur jacket!

Carryn (Her IG) looks adorable with her leather skirt and fur vest.

Steph ( Her IG is killing it with this look. I am loving her fur jack and leather pants.

Monica is ROCKING those leather pants. I love this look.

And then there is me. I actually threw this look together at the last minute when i was shooting a few look. My son took this oic and I love it!

Good Bye 2017, Hello 2018

I would be lying if I said 2017 Was a great year for me. There are so many things that happened that made me question so much in life. It was an extremely hard year for me It was also a year that showed me the most lessons.

Lesson Number 1- Nothing is Guaranteed.

I am a hard working person, I always have been. When I had my son, and (almost )everyone in my life at that time told me I wouldn’t be much, and to just give up on school ( and life basically) I defied them, I continued my education. Killed myself, and at the end I got 3 degrees, the one I am most happy and proud of is my Masters in Education. So when I lost my job  in 2017 what did I do?  I worked hard to find another one.

See I am a preschool Teacher.. A job that I love, and one that many people question. When people think of preschool, They think of baby sitting or daycare, and when they think of preschool teacher, they think of unqualified person who just needs a job. Thats not my case, I worked in elementary school and it wasn’t for me. I didn’t enjoy it. I decided on a change early on in my career. I wanted to be a preschool teacher.

Finding a job in which  was more than a babysitting/ daycare job(please understand I do not think there is anything wrong with either) was hard to find especially at the time of year I was looking. Getting into the school system is not an easy thing and since I have never been, here in Georgia… It was damn near impossible.

So, what do I do? Take a job that pays the bills… I had all but ran through my savings and had barley any money coming in. I had bills that were piling up and no where to turn, I had my son in college, my mom in NYC, both of whom I take care of  so, I had to find something, anything.

They say beggars can’t be choosy, but I was. I think I stayed at one place for a week. It was pure chaos, and not one inch of learning was happening.

Then I found a great private school, score right?  Wrong! There was so much going on there but, I had to stay because… As I mentioned before I had responsibilities. Finally a light at the end of the tunnel. The school year was beginning and I started receiving calls from places I had sent my resume to months ago.

On top of me losing my job, I lost my relationship. A lot of people aren’t aware of it, and if they now are it’s because I finally had to tell them. It was a hard ( but not messy) break up and the realization that it was over didn’t immediately hit me.

Lesson 2 Things get better:

Life will take you through ups and down but things do get better. I have some amazing friends who really helped me through my struggles in 2017. People I will never forget. Blogging, My friends my family, my ex and My dog has really helped me. At this moment I am working at a job in which I love and am content with being single. I have never cried and panicked as much as I have in 2017.

Lesson 3 take things a day at a time

I was the type to think about what would be a week or so later and that would drive me INSANE. Now, I take things as they come and one day at a time, I deal with what I can in the now and go from there.

Lesson 4: Don’t let the bad overshadow the good.

I’ve had some amazing times in 2017 as well.

I adopted an amazing dog named Lucky.

I made some new friends and strengthened some bonds.

My family moved out here to Georgia.

I went to Chicago for the first time

I went to Sanfran and Oakland for the first time( blog/vlog on this is coming soon).

I’ve rejuvenated my blogging and vlogging and it has been helpful in me getting over the bad.

…and much, much, more.

I am looking forward to an amazing 2018, Knowing that I am better and stronger and that I can get through whatever is thrown in my direction.

Animal print

Ok. I must admit, I consider leopard a color, and one of my favorite colors. Lol the amount of leopard I have should be illegal. I absolutely love it.

I have shoes, shirts, pants (yes pants), scarfs, you name it. I’ve heard that it was tacky (think of Peggy Bundy), but it’s my kind of tacky, Lol . If I am to be completely honest I love all types of animal print but leopard is on the top of my list.

So what better than to get together with other women to show our love for animal print. Now I know you’re asking… why animal print if you’re all wearing the same print… Well Great minds think alike… That’s all I can say.

Check out the ladies and their handles.

The Struggles Of Blogging

This post may have some sponsored links, but all opinions are that of my own.If you’re like me and you have a demanding job ( preschool Teacher), blogging often takes a back seat. With the ever so demanding world of blogging/vlogging it can get discouraging. It has taken me quite a while to take my blogging seriously. A part of me is happy for slowly dipping my toes in one by one before jumping in.

I have been going through a lot in life and blogging/vlogging had been my outfit. It has been therapeutic. My love for fashion and education has been revived and having an outlet to share it has been great. I have finally figured out some sort of schedule ( i think, lol) and finally found a consistent photographer ( i hope, lol), which means i don’t have to take my own pics anymore.

I absolutely give it to those people who blog/vlog daily or on a very consistent basis. One day i have hopes one getting there. For those who think blogging/vlogging is easy… you’re absolutely WRONG! I have taken series of photos and when it was all said and done, after all the hard work none were suitable, either my face was off, my body was off, the light was off, something was off. Ive taken a but of pics and a shot videos to fine my SD won’t read… It has been frustrating but that’s a part of life.I still have more work to to and more material to get to continue to improve, but slow and steady progress.

Take a chance

My love for fashion is deeper than the simple items put together. As I’ve mentioned before in previous post, fashion is an art from. It’s a way to express yourself without saying a word.

Generally speaking I’m very shy. People tend to mix that up for me being mean, standoff is or stuck up. I am none of the above. It’s rare that I will start a conversation (although in my older years I have done so more and more).

My awkward shyness has often been a down fall. Even when my business was up and running and I would get complimented on things that could be found in my boutique I wouldn’t self promote. While my business was doing well it could have been doing much better (I closed due to my move and will be reopening very soon).

My bold statements usually comes in the form of fashion. Fashion speaks for me. It gives me a voice. I take time to carefully think about what I want to put together. No thought goes into what others will think as I am picking it out, but after I wonder how ppl will take it in. Most times it’s hit but I have had my misses.

This is one of my favorite looks, it’s bold, it’s daring, it’s me. When I put this look on I laughed think. People are going to think I’m crazy. Black girl, white thigh highs??? I didn’t care because as I slowly put it together I loved it. I mean fashion is all about taking chances. So put on the outfit you love but your not sure if everyone else will. You may be surprised.

I don’t really have many outfit deets.

I purchased these thigh high stockings from walmart.com

My shoes are from shoedazzle.com

Skirt was from Target.com years ago when Peter Pilotto had a line there.

Olive Fashion

I have come to the conclusion that I am OBSESSED with Olive for the fall. One day I was looking in my closet and I came upon a bunch of olive items. It was not only my clothing but shoes as well. After seeing this i decided to do a series on my love for olive. I picked FIVE yes five looks that I loved and will be blogging about them. All these looks are super inexpensive and easy to put together (even with other colors). I start this series off  With this sweater dress.

This item can be worn as a dress or a sweater. I paired it with some pattern stocking and black sorts ( underneath). I added some lace up boots to bring this look together. This look can be easily done with an over sized sweater, some leggings and tall boots.

To add some of my on personal style i threw on this leopard belt and an off color ( off being that it doesn’t “match”) purse. This is one of my favorite comfortable fall looks.

Sweater Weather

This post may have sponsored links but the opinions are all that of my own.

The season is upon us… it’s finally feeling like fall and winter is tapping on the door. One of the best and comfy pieces you should have for your fall/winter wardrobe are sweaters. Lots and lots of sweaters. I have complied a small list of what I think are must have sweaters. You can find them all at Shein.com

My first pick is this beautiful Golden sweater with black and white stripes. It is the most casual one of my pics.. You can rock this with some dark demin skinny jeans and riding boots. Find it here.

My next pic is the super adorable red  smock sweatshirt. This can be paired with a pencil skirt, straight leg pants and/or skinny leg jeans.  you can find it Find it here.

Now we all now I am not a big fan of pink, but when i saw this sweater i was in love, it also comes in4 other colors. It is so girly and cute. I would pair this with a leather mini or pencil skirt. You can find it Here

My next choice is this seemly simple style sweater with a twist. The bow on the front of this sweater gives it that extra push to set it apart from a simple sweater. Find it Here

Last but definitely not least this area fur and blog sweater…. I mean, need I say more? This swearer has my name written cllllll over it. you can find it Here

Find these and so many other beautiful sweaters at Shen.com

Date Night

(me @Mys_elegance)

What does date night mean to you? For some ( including me) date night is a romantic night out with their sweetie. This can be a nice dinner and a fancy restaurant, a drink ( or two or three) at a bar you don’t usually visit, a lounge, or even a movie.

(Celeste @crownsbyceleste)

Some date night are spent with the family, you, your sweetie and  the children may go out to do something that satisfies everyone ( well maybe not everyone, but almost everyone).(Stephanie @stephaniegivesyoulife)

What makes date night different from any other day/night you spend time with your loved ones? For me date night is about spending that quality time disconnected from everyone else and connected to my significant other. For some the same rules apply but with more than their significant other but with their family.

(Danielle @addidaswoman)

Your attire will be dictated by where you go. Sometimes you want to get all dolled up to go to  nice dinner or lounge. Other times you dress down to go bowling or to catch a movie.

(Janelle @quincysgirl77)

I believe date night ( specifically with your significant other) is extremely important. We live in an age where people are so connect to their phones that they do not get the opportunity to connect with their person. For me 2 times a months is the minimum. Do you have a date night?  What are your favorite things to do for date night?(Robin @robinavidor)

Some ladies and I decided to come together and show off our date night looks. I’ve added everyone’s Instagram handle incase you want to see more of their wonderful looks.

A Year in Georgia

It’s been a year since I’ve packed up a few things and moved out here to Georgia. If I say life was great I would not be speaking the truth. Transitioning from one state to another is not the easiest thing. Feeling the disconnect from the life one has lived for their entire life is a constant feeling, at least it has been for me so far.

Don’t get me wrong. I love Georgia and have no plans of moving back to New York, but change is very difficult. The area I live in (Lawrenceville) is different, different culture, different lifestyle, just different. It’s not a good or bad different, just a different to get accustomed to.

Making friends, finding a job, becoming acquainted it is all a work in progress. I miss my set of Friends. Making good friends is hard to do as I mentioned in a previous blog post Here. There are times i feel nostalgia when thinking about New York and I begin to miss simply hanging out with friends.

Finding solid ground as far as work has been a challenge for me. As much as I love what I do I think I will have to take my self back in the  public school system.  I am a preschool teacher and it is different ( to say the least) out here in my experience.

All in all if you’re anything like me. Change is hard. As hard as it is, making this move was one of the best decisions I have made and although it is indeed hard it was necessary and I do not regret it.

Shoedazzle Wishlist

As you may know I have a thing for shoes. I am slightly obsessed with them. Well here is a few of my fall picks from one of my favorite online shoe stores. These are my wish list picks. You will see a pattern, this color has caught my eye for the season… I’m… OBSESSED!

First we have the lovely Analy Here .Next we haveSonia you can find her Here. Then we have Ayla Find her here .We also have Cathleen, Here she is.

Finally we have Lilyana Here she is. Finally we have Lilyana Here she is.

My selection has a variety. I am a lover of heels so of course I have more of those on my wish list than anything else. Flats are a must these days. Being a preschool teacher practical shoes are important.  Practical does not mean boring which is why my 2 picks for flats have a little spunk to it.
